Patient Care

Advantage Dental provides over 20,000 dental services each month across the state of Oregon. It is estimated that Advantage Dental providers and clinics take care of close to 30% of the dental needs for Oregonians. Advantage Dental also provides care for a significant number of underserved Oregonians.

Company History

Advantage Dental was founded in 1994 by a group of dentists concerned with the lack of access to dental care in rural Oregon. The model they created addressed this concern by providing service and access to care, along with dental leadership for our communities in a sustainable, entrepreneurial and professional manner. Advantage Dental is geographically the largest Dental Care Organization in the state of Oregon and numerically one of the largest.

As of October 2018 Advantage Dental has over 50 dental practices; over 500 employees and more than 1,100 contracted dentists in the PacificSource network. Advantage Dental provides care for almost 300,000 recipients with Medicaid coverage in Oregon.

In 2016 Advantage Dental partnered with DentaQuest, a Boston based company dedicated to improving oral health for all. This partnership strengthens our ability to advance the desire of both companies to bring quality dental care to all members of the communities we serve.
In 2017 Access Dental Plan, LLC was added to the Advantage Dental/DentaQuest family of companies. Access Dental manages 10 dental clinics and a nationally-accredited ambulatory surgery center serving patients in the Portland tri-county area. 

Advantage Dental & PacificSource

Advantage Dental is the exclusive network for nearly 60,000 commercial patients in Oregon and Idaho. By contracting with Advantage Dental you will become an in-network provider for PacificSource dental patients.

DentaQuest
Since joining the DentaQuest organization in 2016, Advantage Dental continues to work towards a shared mission to improve the oral health of all. Through this partnership, Advantage Dental and DentaQuest are learning from each other and leveraging best practices to enhance a collective understanding of how to integrate oral health into person-centered care models. We will strengthen our focus on prevention and population health improvement in the context of health equity and continue to champion ways to bring oral care to where it is needed most.
DentaQuest’s extensive experience as a leading
dental benefits administrator – the largest and most experienced in the Medicaid space – coupled with Advantage Dental’s innovative approach to the delivery of oral health care will prove a valuable combination in advancing value-based care in the pursuit of the Triple Aim (Better Health, Better Care, Better Value). 

Community Outreach

Advantage Dental has always been an advocate for community involvement. Recently there has been a campaign to promote the Medical Management of Caries movement—helping to change the old paradigm from drill and fill to one of caries prevention. Through education, outreach and involvement in legislation and government programs, the Company has been delivering the message that cavities are a failed outcome. In addition to the outreach program, Advantage Dental supports Oregon Community Dental Care and the Advanced Dental Information Network (ADIN).

Oregon Community Dental Care (OCDC)

Oregon Community Dental Care, (OCDC), was created to improve access to, and the quality and efficiency of, oral health care. The OCDC’s charter is to provide dental services to rural areas and the medically under-served populations. OCDC operates a dental clinic in Winston, Oregon. The Winston Community Dental Care clinic is co-located with the Adolescent Day Treatment Center of Douglas County, Inc., (ADAPT); and coordinates with the center to provide care for the community.

Advanced Dental Information Network, (ADIN): Electronic Health Records

ADIN is a certified electronic health record system in the forefront of the new electronic health record movement. The primary goal of ADIN is to connect the practice management systems that providers and their staff are already familiar with, to create a seamless exchange of information between all three areas of health care.

The program that ADIN has developed will allow providers to connect physical, behavioral and oral health records electronically. This will help oral health providers to fully integrate the information from all three areas of a patient’s health; with instant access to important information about their medications and other health concerns, using a certified electronic health record system.

We are proud advocates for community involvement. Advantage Dental has always been an advocate for community involvement. Changing the mindset of the parent, who thinks cavities are a normal part of childhood, is the focus of this grass roots movement to redefine the dental paradigm. Advantage Dental’s community outreach is focused on helping the professionals who work with pregnant women and parents with infants and toddlers to teach them about preventative care. Advantage Dental is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that no member of any community Advantage Dental serves suffers the ravages of tooth decay or dental pain that inhibits their daily life.
